Heirless

Build the domain. It builds the army. The fight plays itself.

Heirless is a Bazaar-inspired roguelike autobattler where your board is your domain. Every structure you place breeds, grows or commands tokens: hounds, bears and more. When the fight starts, dozens of pieces pour across the board and clash on their own. Your job is everything before that: what to draft, where to place it, what to upgrade and which road to take.

Features

• Token-heavy fights. Dens whelp beasts on a cooldown, buffs stack, packs swarm. Every effect is a piece moving on the board, so you can see exactly why you won, or why you lost.
• Placement matters. Structures are 1 to 3 slots wide and care about their neighbours. Buy duplicates to raise them from Bronze to Silver, Gold and Diamond.
• Draft with a plan. Spend fragments on sealed writs, each a pack with a theme (dens, the pack, blood, relics), and build toward the engine you want.
• A branching road. Each act is a map of hunts, elites, events and a boss. Pick your route.
• Events with stakes. Bargains, trades and gambles decided on the Fortune's Wheel.
• A final boss with four faces. The last fight wears a different mask from run to run.

This is an early build, shared for playtesting.

• No sound yet. Music and sound effects come in a later build.
• Expect bugs and rough edges. Some pages still show placeholder art ("Work in progress").
• Balance is not final. Cards, art and rules will all change.
• Saves may not carry over to the next build. A run in progress from an older build can't be continued.

Install

Windows

1. Download Heirless-0.1.0-prealpha-windows.zip (about 340 MB).
2. Unzip the whole folder anywhere, then run Heirless.exe. Keep the other files beside it.
3. If Windows SmartScreen warns about an unknown publisher, choose More info > Run anyway.

Needs 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and a graphics card or chip with DirectX 12 or Vulkan (most PCs and laptops from 2015 on).

Linux

1. Download Heirless-0.1.0-prealpha-linux.tar.gz (about 340 MB).
2. Extract it, then run ./heirless from its folder. Keep the other files beside it.

Needs 64-bit Linux (x86_64, X11 or Wayland) with Vulkan drivers (Mesa or your vendor's).

The game opens full screen. Press Esc during a run for the menu.

Saves are kept in %APPDATA%\Third Raven\Heirless (Windows) or ~/.local/share/Third Raven/Heirless (Linux).

Found a bug?

If the game crashes it writes crash.log to the saves folder, and the title screen tells you next launch. Send it in the comments below or on our Discord with a few words on what you were doing. It helps a lot.
